The tour of the Califat: The`Madinat Al –Zahra´ and the Mosque - Cathedral

The tour takes us into the northern region of Andalusia passing huge olive tree plantations. The city of Cordoba was the capital of the Moorish Empire during the 10th, 11th and 12th century.

First we will visit the decentralization project of the city of Cordoba also known as `Madinat Al Zahra´, visit the city of `flowering flower´. This archaeological excavation is one of the most famous symbols of the Moorish civilization on the Iberian Peninsula.

After a short drive we arrive in Cordoba old town that is very much marked by the Jewish Synagogue, the Catholic churches (St. Andres, St. Pedro, etc.) and the Roman Bridge.

After an optional carriage ride or walk, you can book an extra lunch.

The highlight of this tour is the Mosque - Cathedral of Cordoba. As you enter the mosque you see the distinctive horseshoe-shaped arches and contrasting colours of Moorish mosaic. In the centre of this monument you will find the cathedral, which was built after the `Reconquista´ (reconquering of the Christians).
