The tour to the villages in the "Serranía of Ronda"
This tour takes us into the `Serranía de Ronda´ to three typical villages of the region. It is easy to recognize the remaining city architectural elements of Moorish occupation, between the 8th and 16th century: here we see the narrow, white, winding streets and tiny windowed buildings, typical of this region.
The construction of the present-day city Alpandeire goes back to the year 711, as one of the first cities founded by the Muslims in the `Serranía de Ronda´. The most important aspect of the city was `Fray Leopoldo de Alpandeire´, Francisco Tomás Sánchez Márquez who was born on 24 June 1864 and became famous as ` the beggar priest of Andalusia´, especially in the province of Granada.
Recently the `blue´ village of Juzcar went through a huge development. After a local referendum the whole village was painted blue for the `the Smurf movie´ that made here. It has gone down in history as the first smurf village in the world.
Igualeja is surrounded by beautiful natural scenery and many rivers. This village has a gastronomic offer different to other villages in the `Serranía de Ronda´. As it is our last stop we will enjoy some of the typical `tapas´ before heading back to the `Costa del Sol´.
